The Grom Project was formed on February 26, 2003 as a nonprofit corporation in the state of California.

The organization then became a federally-exempt 501(c)3 organization based on an advance ruling that ends December 31, 2007.

2002
The Grom Project concept begins when Kim meets several surfers on the Pro Surfing Tour of America who need help with management and video for sponsors.

2003
The Grom Project team is born when Kim meets supergroms Brent Reilly and Josh Hromin down at Scripps Pier.

Grom Project is incorporated in the state of CA as a nonprofit corporation.

2004
IRS awards Grom Project 501(c)3 tax-exempt status as a publicly supported charitable organization.

Grom Project and Encinitas YMCA partner to Painting Across Boarders mural completed and hung at the Encinitas YMCA Skatepark.

Fieldstone Foundation awards a general operating grant to Grom Project.

Grom Project names its first Board of Directors members.

2005
Grom Project video featuring team riders and other awesome footage premieres at the famous La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas – over 100 kids attend the showing!

Quiksilver Foundation awards a program grant to Grom Project for Inside Edge programs.

American Mortgage Network makes a generous donation to Grom Project.

Ross, Dixon & Bell take Grom Project on as a pro bono client.

Pam Slater-Price, District 3 Supervisor in San Diego County, awards Grom Project a grant for the Cigarette Butts are LITTER program.

Grom Project partners with Encinitas YMCA’s Choices By Teens program for a Cigarette Butts are LITTER program in downtown Encinitas.

2006
Grom Project expands outreach to the east coast by partnering with shops and organizations.

The new Grom Project logo is unveiled!

Grom Project partners with Surfrider and involves over 100 kids in the Cigarette Butts are LITTER program at Tourmaline Beach.

American Mortgage Network makes another generous donation to Grom Project – a matching donation toward the brand-new website!
